Chauncey had surgery today and I wanted to make him something he loves to feel better. One thing I've never tried is chocolate cake which is his FAVE.
It tastes soo good which is probably because I only used the finest ingredients and made everything from scratch with love. Just kidding! It's box cake mix and store bought frosting. But I did customize the frosting by whipping in heavy cream to get a consistency I preferred and the ganache topping IS homemade. So it's semi-homemade cake. Kind of.
Anyway, here are the pics:
I was kind of digging the idea of dripping ganache on the top and sides, so I made some with 60% bittersweet chocolate. I next time I will make sure to let the ganache cool just a bit longer before I pour and stick with a strict 1 cup cream to 2 cup chocolate ratio (I was a little heavy on the cream this round).
